Koh Tao often spelt Ko Tao was discovered by backpackers many years ago and diving made Koh Tao a popular backpacker destination to get that essential scuba diving ticket checked off their list of things to do whilst travelling around the world. Today though many resorts on Koh Tao are moving towards higher end holiday makers or only offering cheaper prices to those who are taking diving courses with them which is making Koh Tao a little too expensive for those on a backpacking budget, .Rocks Guesthouse offers cheaper hostel style accommodation for both divers and non divers alike.
.Rocks Guesthouse is easy to spot as it's the big blue building located in Sairee at the Silver Sands Resort, behind Davy Jones Locker Diving when coming from the beach, or if coming from the main road turn towards the beach at Su Chilli Thai food restaurant. Central Sairee is the place to be based no matter what you are looking for whilst you're on Koh Tao, be it beaches and relaxing, bars and nightlife or of course scuba diving. .Rocks Guesthouse is close to everything you'll need whilst here on Koh Tao and although we're centrally based our location is quiet at night as the pool bar closes by 11pm and we're far enough away from the beach bars so the noise which effects many of the resorts in Sairee isn't a problem.
As we are based at Silver Sands Resort and are associated with Davy Jones Locker (DJL) Diving we have full access to the resort's swimming pool, bar and restaurant.
We do also have our own common room on the second floor as well as a covered roof garden, so for anyone who is on a tight budget or doesn't want to sit in the dive school bar you can make a trip to 7-11 or the Ice Shop (who sell drinks supplies to the local bars) to pick up some cheap drinks or get a pizza delivered and just chill out in the the common room or have a BBQ in the roof garden etc. Also good to keep the evening costs down as you can have a few cheap drinks before heading off out later in the evening.
